Walk-ins are welcome, but those already on the waiting list will be given first consideration for available openings.

This year we will be offering the following Teacher Workshop topics:
1A. Multiple Intelligences Presented by Connie Jensen & Shawn Irvin
Learn how STARBASE Wright-Patt employs the teaching theory of “Multiple Intelligences” in their 5th Grade educational program.
Instructors from STARBASE Wright-Patt will give a brief overview of Dr. Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, then show
you how they are applying it in their classroom. It is guaranteed to be a fun and engaging workshop to help you get more in-tune with your
students and the way they learn and think.

1B. NASA Missions-Education Opportunities & Resources Presented by Jim Fitzgerald
This professional development opportunity will demonstrate how to make connections between curriculum being taught and NASA
Missions. NASA Missions provide unique contexts, resources, materials, and student/teacher opportunities that may be used to enhance
student interest in what teachers already include in their curriculum. NASA resources will be provided.
2A. USA Today - Presented by Sherry Fisher & Carla Nicolosi
USA TODAY Education offers students the opportunity to learn from real world stories found in USA TODAY. For Educators, USA
TODAY Education provides standards based, cross curricular activities that bring relevancy and timeliness to the classroom. Educators
will develop strategies for using USA TODAY to hone students' higher-order thinking skills and integrate reading into science and math
courses.

2B. Fun with Flight... Planes! Parachutes! Kites! - Presented by Beppie Walerius
Engage your upper elementary/middle school students with aerospace activities using airplanes, parachutes, and kites. Also see how these
science activities can be linked to math, social studies, and literature. Be prepared to have some high flying fun as we do several hands-on
activities.
3A. We Don’t Need No Stinking Books! Presented by Julie Livingston
Yes, you can use picture books and novels in the math and science classrooms! Here are some suggestions that will help you explain
concepts and meet those standards.

3B. Mega Fun with Meteorology Presented by Michelle Gehrling
What is meteorology and why is it important and to whom? Ever wonder what makes those drinking birds work? Join us for this workshop
to find out the answers. We’ll be making fog, lightning, rockets and tornadoes.
4A. Innovators, What Makes Them Tick? Presented by Judy Steritz
Where do they get those ideas? Can you be an innovator? We will examine famous innovators throughout history, looking at the qualities
and skills they had, to discover why they were able to accomplish their goals

Learn about the science, technology, engineering and math of composites and what a composites engineer does. Learn how to inspire
students and give them career advice and about the jobs available in composites technologies.
